After a breast cancer

diagnosis

We know that improving your mental and physical wellbeing is important. Want to give dragon boating a try? Whether you are newly diagnosed or it has been years post-treatment, we invite you to jump on board.

As cancer survivors, we know what you have gone through... and you are thinking what can I do next…

Get Fit

By increasing physical activity, you will improve your overall energy levels. Start low and gradually build to a level you are comfortable with.

Volunteer

Helping others can increase your own happiness – allow yourself to be involved. By giving to others you can create value and it provides a distraction.

Mindfulness

After treatment, and when machines have stopped all their noise, and your head is information overload, take a moment to quieten the mind, relax and release the stress.

Something new

Plan a trip, have something to look forward to as well as engage your creative side… ever thought about jumping in a dragonboat and paddling in a foreign country?

Socially connect

Join like-minded people, have a regular routine like breakfast after paddling! Coffee is an important part of our weekly get together, as well as regattas, festivals picnics.

We are breast cancer survivors of various ages, genders, diverse backgrounds, athletic abilities and interests.

Dragons Abreast Sydney officially formed in 2003. High on our list of priorities is having fun – we know that after breast cancer treatment life has changed and you are looking for your tribe. Dragon boating is a team sport, requiring technique, discipline and focus.  It is not all about winning medals, but once you paddle at a regatta, you will be drawn to want to paddle more.

Our membership is geared towards helping cancer survivors, what-ever fitness level, and what-ever skill level – it is about having-a-go.  Also, we understand taking on new challenges can be daunting; therefore, we encourage you to invite family or friends to come for your first three-sessions for free.

Come join us in Black Wattle Bay, Sydney – we have our COVID19 Action Plan in place
